Repelled by ticks

I'm allergic to practically all chemicals, so I resist using products unless absolutely necessary. I am also very, very allergic to tick bites (Mosquitos too), and have welts head to toe from the 20 tick bites I sustained on the hike this week. Nuts to that. You ticks are going down!!! Just try to bite me now, you little SOBs! Crossing my fingers that camping is pleasant next weekend...
The dogs had 7 ticks between them (there may be more; their sense hair & dark undercoat make them tough to see), and they're on protection as well. If I can confirm that permethrin won't hurt them, they'll be wearing treated packs and bandanas too.
