13 students, 29 total certifications in open water, advanced open water, peak performance buoyancy, and rescue diving. Whew!! Busy three days, with my fellow instructors Melia and Jackie. We were fortunate to have excellent divemasters Zach, Janet, Tami, and Greg to help us out.
"It's raining so you'll be wet anyway… Might as well dive!" Jackie, Janet, and Melia prepare to set the floats first thing in the morning.
It is so rewarding as a teacher to see a student transition from apprehension and fear to having fun underwater. Helping someone learn to dive is literally opening up a whole new world to them! You never know what surprises will present themselves when diving with a bunch of new students, but we work through everything and had a great time in the process.
Chris and Melia dropped me at home after unloading gear at the shop, and as usual, my pets missed them more than they missed me. Such happy faces! And such a great weekend.
Update 8/24: at least FIVE of us who were diving together came down with raging sinus & ear infections within a few days. There's no way that's a coincidence!! Beware of Arkansas lake water, peoples! But look for the rock that looks like a fish. It's cool!
