baby bunnies

It has come to my attention that rabbits aren't the smartest creatures. No offense to them, but I have to question the logic of having a nestful of babies in the middle of someone's backyard...let alone a backyard occupied by HUNTING DOGS. After the shibas discovered them (and, miraculously, spared their lives) I erected a little fence around the nest, to prevent the dogs from disturbing them too much.

(9 days later):

It was a long few weeks of babysitting the dogs every time I let them out. But no bunnies were harmed in the process! It was kinda fun to go out & check on them everyday. I even handled them a bit as they got older. So cute!

This all reminded me of one of my favorite novels (and animated movies) when I was a kid: Watership Down by Richard Adams. So I'm calling them Violet, Hazel & Pipkin.
