Taj Mahal

Went to see "From the Land of the Taj Mahal: Paintings for India's Mughal Emperors" at the Nelson-Atkins museum of art. The paintings have a totally amazing level of detail...unlike anything I've ever seen! You couldn't have fully appreciated the show if they hadn't provided magnifying glasses.

Mughal art and architecture, a characteristic Indo-Islamic-Persian style that flourished on the Indian subcontinent during the Mughal empire. The Mughal Empire was an Islamic dynasty descended from the Mongols that ruled most of India from 1526 to 1857. Leaders such as Shah Jahan, who is best known for building the Taj Mahal, commissioned vibrant illustrations and calligraphies from the greatest artists of the time.   More images here.
