Union Hill Cemetery

Today Renee (my friend, fellow manager & boothmate) organized a trip to Union Hill Cemetery. A handful of us took advantage of the incredible weather & walked up there with our lunches. It's just up the hill from Hallmark, but surprisingly I have never visited it in my almost 12 years in KC! It was amazing...most of the graves are from the 1800s and range from well-worn and illegible stones to perfectly-preserved granite. Many of the stones were in unique shapes: lambs for children's graves, large crosses, and INCREDIBLE concrete replicas of tree stumps with ferns & ivy on them. It was a sunny day, but there was plenty of shade from the enormous trees all over the rolling hills, and it was surprisingly cheery with the sun streaming through the leaves. Can't wait to go back on a misty/foggy/creepy day!
I forgot my camera. Photos are from coolvalley's Flickr page
