working with whales

So today started out kind of strange. Soon after I arrived at work, the torrential rain started. Even in the belly of the 5th floor I could hear the thunder. And then...the whale song started. I seriously have no idea what the heck was going on, but there were LOUD, echoing noises that sounded just like whales singing. I'm sure if I had been close to a window I'd have seen whales floating by outside. And of course the really strange thing was that upon leaving work, the rain had cleared...as if it never happened. No sign of whales either. Bummer.
Some happy lil' flying whales. (Wow. That sounds a bit "Bob Ross-y".)
And, all that thinking about whales made me remember my trip to Japan in Fall 2007. I hit a かいてん鮨 for dinner, and tried exotic things like raw sea scallops, mantis shrimp, geoduck, and whale bacon. (Also, some other unrecognizable things that were alternately awesome or disgusting.)
I totally just made myself hungry again.
