Just found out that not only will I be transporting a shiba from a shelter in Chilicothe, MO to a new foster home in the KC area...but I will be fostering that shiba for the whole weekend! While three dogs (and two cats) is going to be a lot of work, I'm really excited about it, and I think my dogs will absolutely love it (the jury is out on the cats, but I'm pretty sure I can guess that one). "Natasha" is a cream-colored shiba, which is the color I don't have. Hmm. Stop me before I adopt again!!!

Aki was a little intimidated by Natasha:

"hold me closer, tiny shiba!" (she's only 10 pounds!!!)

It turned out that "Tasha" has a problem with her leg, most likely a deformity or a dislocated patella. But she still gets around just fine. The vet will check her out Monday morning when I do the hand-off. Apparently an anonymous person abandoned Tasha in an outdoor pen at the shelter. Presumably someone from a puppy-mill, realizing that Tasha's treatment could be expensive, and they wouldn't be able to sell her. So they dumped her. And it's people like that who make me want to help rescue animals.
