I braved the heat today & attended the PV art fair, and was so glad I did... check out this gorgeous ceramic vase I purchased from artist Adam Egenolf! The process that creates those flowerlike shapes is called "crystalline glazing." The glazed porcelain is heated to 2300 degrees, then cooled & left at a lower temperature for an extended time, allowing crystals to grow on the surface. I had never seen the technique before, but found the results to be irresistibly enchanting!
The other piece I purchased is a housewarming gift for Kelley & Eric, a photograph of the Brooklyn Bridge printed on acetate, then backed with brushed copper. The effect is amazing in different light conditions! Hope they love it...
