A night of BBQ & beer

Tonight I joined Liz & Kevin, Mike & a bunch of awesome people I hadn't yet met at Allyson & Scott's house for beer & appetizers. And then we walked down to the main event, the 29th annual Great Lenexa BBQ Battle at Sar-Ko-Par trails park. Allyson, Scott & Liz in front of Liz's brother's smoker:

This thing was big enough for me to live inside it! (And the weather was SO HOT that I might has well do it.) 

Check out that huge pile of ribs. The whole place was a mob scene. Booths packed together, and crowded! Fortunately the smell of BBQ overpowered our sweatiness.

And speaking of beer, some of our KC local restaurants are serving some interesting ones. I recently tried St. Peter's cream stout at Blanc Burger & Hitachino rice beer at The Westside Local, so I took a trip down to Lukas liquors to see what I could find... And scored big! Here's the Hitachino:
