The cheetahs were definitely the highlight of the day today. When we arrived at their exhibit, the three girls were chilling out on the hill.
Tell me that's not THE picture of happiness!

But then the girls got up & trotted around excitedly. We soon realized it was because their keeper had arrived with a tub full of chunks of raw meat!
They paced back & forth & took turns pouncing on the prize:
One was skillful enough to make a mid-air catch:
But when two of them went for the same piece, a fight broke out:
Fortunately, as with most sisters, it was short-lived:
It was so cool to see their incredible spotted coats so close, and to hear their bark-like chirps at each other. I want to come back sometime when they're doing their enrichment, lure coursing (aka chasing a plastic bag over the ground on a zip line). My dogs would love this as well, but unfortunately only sight hounds (or cheetahs) can compete.
