Just before sunset today, I took the dogs up to Antioch Park for a walk. Though I used to take them 2-3 times a week when I was running, we haven't been there in weeks. The thick blanket of snow and the setting sun made for some brilliant colors, and there was a huge flock of geese hanging out in the lake:
It's like Times Square for geese on this lake!
It took all my strength to keep the dogs from pursuing them on the ice. They dragged me all the way around the lake. As we continued around the park, we found a tree that had fallen, and ever the hunter, Aki had to check it out. Nothing makes a great photo like a dog a** sticking out of a tree. Especially with that ridiculous curly tail! Even Taylor looks embarrassed.
Soon after, she found the burrow of some poor animal family and practically crawled all the way inside. I'm glad the residents weren't home. With as far as Aki got into the hole the residents are probably Chinese.
It's a pretty good workout, trudging through the 7"-18" snow banks, but the dogs weren't even a little bit tired after a full hour, and my face was too cold to stay. The low today was -6 and the wind chills have been down to almost 20 below all week. Stay warm!
