Art Unleashed 2011: The Logo

Today I finally got into a groove on the Art Unleashed 2011 logo for The Humane Society of Greater Kansas City (HSGKC) and worked on it all day—more than 15 hours—from concepts to sketches to roughs to final linework to color. Whew! I did take a couple of short breaks in there to eat, and to walk the dogs, but that was it. Artwork is work after all, but it's really fun work that I'm privileged to do. It felt good to get back into artwork and be in one of those grooves where I just kept at it, and kept liking my drawings better and better as I worked. But of course I have to stop somewhere.
Here's a peek into my process: First, I fill up several pages with concept sketches. (And, as is often the case, one of my first ideas is my favorite):
Then I do linework & lettering on a few, to narrow it down:
Once I've chosen, I create a simple, informational version of the design for the logo and a design for t-shirts:
Next, I experiment with color on my chosen t-shirt design (which I'm calling "Animandala"):
...Until I land on the final color versions for the t-shirts.

And guys':
I still need to do all the technical prep of the files, my least favorite part. (I'm not so detail-oriented, so by the time I get to this stage, I'm restless to move on to something else.)
So what do you think? Like it? Hate it? Is the guys' version boyish enough? I love that green, but I'm not the best judge... Leave some comments for me, please.
