"Bye, Wookie."
"Bye, Timber."
I was fine when I dropped Wookie at GPSPCA yesterday. He's very shy, but he's young and weirdly cute and will get adopted quickly, no doubt.
I thought I'd be fine dropping off the old man at Crest animal clinic this morning, too... But I have to say, I couldn't control the tears as I drove away. His owner said he is 9, but I suspect he's more like 12 based on his unsteady gait and white face. He's got a foster home lined up for him in Minnesota, with 2 other senior Shibas. He'll be fine. But it stole my heart to see his tail up and wagging as I handed his leash over to the vet tech. He had some spring in his step... Like an old man embarking on his last grand adventure.
I just know someone in Minnesota will fall in love with him like I did, and give him a great home. But it sure was hard to say goodbye, knowing I'm unlikely to see him again. Good luck, dear Timber!
