Go With the JO

I challenge myself to find the positive side of things, and the fractured arm was proving to be tricky. All I had come up with was that it didn't ruin my trip to Steamboat (though in hindsight I should have stopped riding), and it was our second and final trip of the season. Months to heal before I face the mountains again.
But today I upped the ante: with the help of friends/coworkers Dave & Josh, I took the bus to & from work, for the first time ever. I've always wondered about trying it, and this seemed like the perfect time to try. Driving with one arm doesn't feel super safe.
It's too bad I waited so long to try it out: I was delighted that it was easy. And fast. I chatted with friends the whole way. And I got to work relaxed. Plus, the driver gave me a free ride (only because he didn't want to deal with my handful of change, but still). The hardest part was getting up a bit earlier—but I hope I can turn this into a habit.
So I bought a pass at lunchtime. It's a dorky thing to be excited about, I know. But Hallmark subsidizes the passes, so I can get a month's worth of rides for less than the cost of one tank of gas. Good for me, good for the planet.
Oh, and: I HAVE FOUND A EXTRA HOUR EVERY WEEKDAY. I can read, sleep, draw, catch up on work... you get the idea. Totally. Amazing.
