Detour of De Neighborhood

I missed my bus this morning; missed my lazy, relaxing ride to work courtesy of the JO. I arrived at the park & ride two minutes after it departed. Grr... Why did I miss it? I got lost in my own neighborhood, sort of.
I started off driving down my street as always. But it was unexpectedly closed. The city is proactively replacing all the water lines in the neighborhood, which I'm very grateful for. The daily, unannounced movement of the closures... Not so grateful for. I've been forced to take a different, yet equally slow, route to the parking spot every day.
I turned back, down another street, a few blocks in: closed. Took a detour to the right, and it was closed. Headed the other way: closed. The clock was ticking: the bus waits for no man. A last-ditch effort to skirt the blockages took me even further out of the way, and my fate was sealed: I had to drive to work. (I've been riding barely two months, and already I'm accustomed to it. To put it bluntly, driving sucks.)
I took the dogs for a quick walk around the block tonight, out of curiosity. On a single block: over 20 signs, barricades, and sets of cones. OP is a bit aggressive about safety. Which again, I'm grateful for. Sort of.
