KCLive gift guide just talked about a FitBit for dogs. They said it's so you can know if your dog is getting exercise while you're away at work. Your dog is not getting exercise while you're away... they are sleeping. That's why they are overjoyed when you return and SO excited every time you walk them. For most dogs, even time in the yard doesn't equate to exercise unless you're out there playing with them.
Regular walks are so important to a dog's happiness and well-being. If everybody did this, I strongly believe we'd have fewer dogs in shelters because they'd be happier, more bonded to their owners and more responsive to training, and therefore less likely to be given up. Just my observations... ;)
