Power Day

marauding as Totoro
Today had been a very good, very full day. It's Taylor's 6th birthday, so I treated him to homemade peanut butter/banana/yogurt ice cream with a Milkbone in it after breakfast. Not a crumb was left.
I had to be at work early to present a creative strategy to two senior VPs. There was a minor emergency when I realized the projector I had reserved was missing. A few stressful minutes later, I found another, just in the nick of time. Beyond that, the meeting couldn't have gone much better! They were highly engaged & complementary even.
At lunch I ran out with Bill to see his studio, as he invited me to show some plush & paintings next weekend at the Hobbs building monthly open studio night. We grabbed hamburgers & had a fun chat. A treat, considering how infrequently I'm able to escape for lunch.
I worked 'til 6:45 & then headed over to Ibex to meet the gang. Britten & Rich weren't able to join, but I belayed with Richard & it was fun getting to know him a bit better. After a slow start, we went gangbusters--we challenged ourselves & hit a bunch of tough 5.8s & 5.9s.
At the end of the night, John suggested trying an "endurance builder": choose an easy 5.6 & climb it quickly, rappel down, & immediately head up again. Repeat until exhausted. Despite all the climbs I'd already done, I went up & down 12 times. And the 12th was my fastest! I was sweating & beginning to breathe harder, & wanted Richard to get a few more climbs. But it felt amazing!
After the 40-minute drive home (the one downside to Ibex) I took the dogs out for a walk/jog to celebrate Tay again. He spun & pranced & howled when I grabbed the leash. He loved it! More treats & a photo as Totoro... What more could a dog want?
I'm going to pay for all this fun by being tired tomorrow, but I'd say it was worth it. ;)
