Memorial Day weekend at Lake of the Ozarks

Had a ton of fun this weekend down at the lake. Good company, good food, ideal weather, and a high dog-to-person ratio. That lake is freakin' huge...I had no idea! Aki was the first to swim: she jumped from the boat to the dock and slipped into the water!
Saturday, we went out on Rob's boat & had frozen drinks at 11 am at Coconuts: rum runners and "pain in the @ss" (rum runner + pina colada). I, of course, got sunburned. The place reminded me of the resort in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico: lots of overcooked, scantily-clad Americans drinking & partying. Other classy establishments on the lake include "The Gas Hole" and "Dick's Halfway Inn".
Sunday, I spent much of the afternoon sitting on the patio under the trees drawing in my sketchbook with the dogs at my feet. Don't remember the last time I had that luxury!
Some music to commemorate the weekend (Warning: objectionable language! If you object to that sort of thing.)
be careful on P road...they're watching you!

don't we look cute in our lifejackets?

wait...you want me to jump in THERE?!

The shibas didn't *like* the water, but were very good sports.

I ended the fine weekend with a trip to the emergency vet Monday morning...apparently dirty lake water isn't so good for a shiba's digestive tract. (shrug)

Too bad that I was too early for this festival...or is it? (Found this photo online, but this year it's the SIXTEENTH annual on June 6, in case you were thinking of heading down there.) I'm sure Andrew Zimmern from "Bizarre Foods" will be first in line.
