Last night I got to join Fred & his friends for drinks at the Drum Room in the President hotel...and then for contrast, the championships of KC women's roller derby!
It was held at Municipal auditorium, and I must never have seen an event there, because I'm SURE I would remember these awesome art deco signs:
The rules are pretty simple, but the scoring was a little tricky...
The teams were the Black-eye Susans. the Knockouts, the Dreadnought Dorothys, and the Victory Vixens. My favorite player names were Auntie Embolism, Sara Pain & Brawl, Dominant Jean (#XX), Princess Slaya-ya, & Ruth Canal. And "Effin' Ref"! But none quiet come close to the names Rachel & Josh gave themselves: Turkish Delight & Killadelphia!
