Shiba transport: Tobi

Got a call this evening that MSIR needed a volunteer to pick up Tobi, a 10-month-old shiba puppy in Oak Grove, MO (east of Blue Springs). Hoping that the trucker who is delivering the dog arrives on time so it doesn't take the whole day. Also hoping that the puppy is cute, but not TOO cute, if you get me. Made a yummy fritatta & set up the coffeemaker for "bright & early," to sustain us on the trip. We're meeting Charlotte (aka "Charlie") who will be driving 10 hours overnight in her semi to get him here.We met up at Petro Truck Stop, off I-70 in Oak Grove, MO:
UPDATE: Kelly & I just returned from picking up Tobi & delivering him to Kathy. And as I suspected, he is adorable. One of the cutest shibas I've EVER seen, in fact. Hope he'll get adopted soon... who could resist that FACE?! Charlie was quite a character, and clearly has a huge heart: she helped transport ~200 dogs to their new foster homes last year. She & her husband even have their own 2 dogs, a german shepherd & a sheepdog-esque mixed breed, that travel with them in their truck. Not the life I'd like to lead, but thank goodness for them!!!

The weather behaved itself, and the extra 2-3" of snow that we got last night didn't pose a problem. Fox 4 news said that this has been our snowiest December since 1961 (13.9" so far)!
