A trip to 888 market & cafe

A couple of weeks ago, Kelly discovered a new Asian grocery store in the OP, 888 Market at 119th & Grant (Presumably the same owners as the store on 87th street). He & I went on a shopping excursion today & decided to stop by. I have to say that after being there, I felt like I had a mini-vacation from Kansas City; it is a large store with an extensive selection of produce, frozen foods and other products from Japan, China, Thailand, India & more that I haven't seen elsewhere. It even had a small cafe! The cafe is near the door as you enter. Once we passed the fresh meals & sushi case, we found ourselves staring directly into the face of some ducks, in what appeared to be an ancient torture device!A whole row of pickled stuff. Pickled lemon, mango, baby banana buds, bananas, garlic, mushrooms, lotus... you name it, it's in a pickle.
LOVE these cute Korean snack packages:
And the "artist penguin" on the Vitasoy drink boxes:
And the chef-shaped stir fry bottles:
But I think I'll pass on the chicken feet:
And the durian fruit (seeing Andrew Zimmern gag at the overpowering odor was enough for me) that guy eats penises, but won't eat this:
In the last row (the restaurant supply aisle), there was a 5-gallon bucket of who-knows-what with a pig-panda on it!
