Not-so-great day for a run

Mother Nature gave me the big F.U. today with rain & 40 degree temps for the "Rock the Parkway" race. It made the Thanksgiving Day run seem downright balmy! I finished the 5k in about 26:30, short of my goal time but not bad considering that I was soaked to the skin and squandered most of my energy shivering before the race even started. It was kind of cool to listen to the sounds of the race, though, with the drops hitting the pavement & the squishy patter of 8000 feet. The race started at Burns & McDonnell, 9400 Ward Parkway. The scenery wasn't too interesting for the 5k (because it was just one short loop, mostly on the B&McD campus), but I'm sure the half-marathoners enjoyed the view on the run up the Parkway to Loose Park! As much as I'd like to try a 10k, I'm glad I didn't pick today, and be forced to run twice as long in the miserable weather!

Results: mararunning has me at 8th place in my age division, but the time is way off what my stopwatch calculated (26:30 vs. 27:06).
Guessing they used the gun time vs. my actual timing chip.
156th place overall, & 8th in my age group (out of 95).
My playlist: Sugar (Flo Rida f. Wynter); Closer (Ne-Yo); On to the Next One (Jay-Z); Toxic (Brittney); Rock That Body (Black Eyed Peas); Carry Out (Timbaland f. Justin Timberlake); Break Your Heart (Taio Cruz f. Ludacris); 11h30 (Danger); Headsprung (LL Cool J); In My Head (Jason Derulo); Starstrukk (3OH!3)
