Back at the house for the night

According to Madeline's pedometer (and iPhone GPS navigation) we hiked about 6 miles on the prairie, and another 2 miles in the neighborhood around the house tonight. And you know what that means: we worked up quite an appetite! With apologies to our new-found bovine friends, we were in the mood for steak! We walked up to the Grand Central Hotel on the town square and ordered dinner to take home: grilled ribeyes, prime rib, steak fries, and loaded baked potatoes. The beef was so fresh you could practically hear it "moo."
After dinner, Kelly played a little pinball:
Madeline tamed Taylor (who looks like Buddha in this photo):
And the dogs longed to play outside:
Taylor to Kelly: "Made you look!"
Then we all sat on the porch for a while, drank wine & ate gourmet chocolate, read books & magazines, and sketched. It was rough. Taylor used Madeline as a perch to look out for loose kitties:
And everything he does, little sister has to do too!
Then we eventually made our way to bed:
Zzzzz...

The next morning, we were up early (thanks to Taylor howling in my face for his breakfast). Actually, we were up quite late, too—with Aki barking incessantly at something she heard outside: probably a cat, but possibly a boogeyman, and me finding a tick crawling around on my scalp, and all of us being a little uncomfortable from our sunburns. But we had a great time!
