I was at Target today to check out the lawn & garden stuff, and found this great gazebo on sale! It was in one huge (and HEAVY!) box and it took 2 guys and a big cart to get it to my car. The 3 of us had to shoehorn it in. If it were even half an inch longer I would have had to return it! But I had thought through how I was going to get it home & out of the car, right? Um, yeah... riiiiight. Fortunately Mike offered to come by & save me from myself. We assembled it in just over an hour, and voila! My deck is about 10 degrees cooler now, and the dogs have protection from the rain when they go outside.
Now all I need are some paper lanterns, lighting, a rug and some extra seating and I'll be all ready for a backyard bbq! The next day, I stopped by Ace to take advantage of their half-price plants & brought home these beauties, mandevilla (whose name I remember only because it sounds so close to one of my favorite Spanish words, mantequilla) and a hibiscus:
And a little cilantro, too (can you eat the flowers?):
Taylor is clearly enjoying it already! He loves to be outside, but overheats quickly with his thick, black coat, so I'm glad to provide some relief from the heat.
