Awesome day.

Today started out & ended on high notes.
I had my annual physical this morning & confirmed what Kristin had told me: although my total cholesterol is high, it's only because my good cholesterol is SO good—double that of a typical patient—according to my doc. She asked me a battery of questions & liked all my answers. She told me, "Whatever you're doing, keep doing it!"
At lunchtime I went over to Hall's to get a belated birthday gift for our intern, Alexandra. I landed on a box of Christopher Elbow chocolates. And I didn't get out of there without buying a chocolate for myself:
a new flavor, wild flower honey! It was EXCELLENT.
Then tonight I sped out of work to get to the 5:30 yoga class. I really wanted to make it because I was so tired after work last night that I laid down "for just a couple minutes" to rest & woke up over an hour later, after yoga had already started. I had been in such a deep sleep that I had that panicky feeling when I woke up: the lighting conditions were ambiguous and I thought it was 6:45 AM, not PM, and was thinking I was late for work!
Anyway, I made it to yoga & had a great workout. Then I headed over to the pool to swim for  a bit. There was a water aerobics class in progress, so I had to stand there in my swimsuit & wait for them to wrap up. A guy who was also waiting looked at me & said, "Are you training for a triathlon?"
   I answered, "No. Why?"
"You look like you're in tri shape."
Made me feel like a million bucks!!! The cool thing is that he wasn't feeding me a line. He himself was beginning to train for a tri and was looking for tips. My best tip was, "Check out this month's issue of 'Runner's World' Magazine." The funny thing was that after reading that article, I was half tempted to attempt a tri. But I don't even own a bike!
Todd & I ended up swimming laps in adjacent lanes & challenging each other to see how many we could do without stopping. He said, "You're a little machine!" Man, that was so nice to hear considering that it was one year ago this week that I learned to swim. I know I'm really not good or competitive, but it's gratifying to know I can fake it convincingly.
I drove home from the gym singing loudly (and badly, I might add) to my iPod and was still on such a high when I got home that I took the dogs on a long walk. The dogs love it, and it gives me focused time to think. And mostly what I was thinking about is how great it feels to make someone's day by paying them a genuine compliment—and how awesome it is to be on the receiving end of such a comment. If you're thinking something good, don't be afraid to share it!
