Backyard birds

   I've been trying to keep the bird feeders filled as the weather is turning colder, much to the pleasure of my resident avians. The usual visitors are a pair of blue jays, cardinals, sparrows,  & chickadees. And Mr. Woodpecker has been back, forging an ever-expanding hollow into one of the large trees. (Just stay off the house, buddy!)
   I also happened to notice, while I was picking up the yard, that the shibas seem to be injesting a lot of birdseed. Turns out they've been licking up all the seed that the birds knock to the ground. Need I say more?
