Tonight was perfect. I was exhausted from a very full day at work, and might have otherwise gone right to bed, but I had already planned to go swimming with Sawako. So she came over at 6:00, and made my day by surprising me with homemade treats in a Bento box. She also surprised the pups with some new plush toys: a plush man and a plush cupcake constructed over a squeaky ball, which Aki absolutely went berzerk over!
We enjoyed our snacks and played with the animals, and then headed to the pool. It was a beautiful evening, cloudy and therefore cooler, and we got to watch the sun setting from the water. A gorgeous display of deep blue clouds which reflected the intense yellow of the sun. Incredible! I hadn't been swimming in about a year (unbelievable, and sad), and enjoyed it, though I found that my lack of swimming + lack of running = really poor lung capacity. Fail! But it made me want to get into practicing again.
On the way home we stopped for chocolate frozen custard at Sheridan's—Sawako's first time there. As we were finishing our cones, woman showed up with a tiny, fuzzy black kitten, looking for a home for it. She looked so much like Atom that I was genuinely tempted for a second, but thought better of it. One adorable-yet-evil kitten in my house in the max.
