Little Treasures Outside My Window

A sure sign of spring: a cardinal has roosted in the shrubs against the windows in my family room. It will be a treat to be able to peek inside the nest without disturbing her—at least until the shrubs leaf out.
Mom on her nest (photo taken through the window and screen). She is perched just a couple of inches from the window, and just about 4' off the ground.
When she flew off, I took the opportunity to go outside and have a look:
To me this means that I'll have to hold off on trimming the already-overgrown burning bushes until they drop their leaves in the fall. And to Kismet, this means she can't go outside. She has been driving me crazy all weekend, following me and meowing pitifully (and LOUDLY, I might add). She paces back and forth across the window sill, eyes and tail twitching. Either Momma Cardinal can't see her, or knows she is safe.
