Kauffman Tour

Christy organized a private, guided tour of the Kauffman tonight... Although I've been there many times since it opened in September 2011, it was cool to hear about the construction and special features that produce the best sound quality for the two theaters. Such as: It took six years to build. The two halls aren't actually connected, which is why they can hold concurrent performances. (The metal shell floats on top to give them the appearance of being connected.)
The pipe organ has 5500 pipes; only 10% is visible from the seats in Helzberg hall. The pipes range in size from 32' tall and 1,000 lbs. to the size of a pencil.
Insert organ joke here. C'mon, you know you want to. That IS a magnificent organ!
