Rugs, Rain, and Ridiculousity

Shrill barking and incessant pawing (and biting) of the deck can only mean one thing: our possum has returned again to drive Aki stark raving mad.
She shredded my rug this morning while I was in the shower, in an attempt to find a way to our marsupial houseguest. Golden retrievers these ain't! Hunting dogs can be a pain in the ASSistance of wildlife.
Update, 9:04pm: Aki refused to come inside earlier when I called her. I just heard a HUGE thunderclap and rushed to the door to rescue her. And she was still in the SAME place, wagging her tail and pawing at the deck enthusiastically. And it was RAINING. And she was getting WET. And she hates WATER. You know what they say, "Neither snow, nor rain, nor heat, nor gloom of night stays the courageous Shiba from the swift dispatching of her rodent quarry" (with apologies to Greek historian, Herodotus).
And again I say, "WHY, wildlife? Why do you take residence in MY yard when there are safer ones around?! You know what happened in 2011, right?"
