Home Away From Home For the Holidays

Really excited to be getting out of town for a few days, extra-super-mega excited to see Kristin, to see Kristin's relatively new condo, to celebrate my birthday at one of my favorite restaurants in the whole world, to run in downtown Portland, and especially to escape from the stressors I've been dealing with here in KC.
I was bummed to miss out on the research trip to Toronto--we don't get many opportunities like that--but it was the right choice. I've been just so busy and work had been awesome, though stressful. Couldn't possibly be more grateful for the amazing team of people I get to hang with, and especially for my mega-awesome boss.
I booked my flight to ride Utah with my buddies for the first time ever, so that lessened the sting of missing Toronto. Can't wait to get on my board again and mountain-surf!!!!!!! There's nothing better than having a fabulous trip on the horizon!
Although I hate to leave my "family" and miss them while I'm gone, I always feel so good that Mary Ann has my house & pets covered... They've been seeing her a LOT lately and likely think that she's their owner, and that I'm the pet sitter.  ;)  And truth be told, they may prefer that... she is SO wondeful to them.
My neighbors are super-good to me, too, and will help keep an eye on my house while I'm gone. Scott works for the FBI, so I couldn't ask for much more than that. OP Police are really good about tooling around when requested too. Makes me feel a lot more secure about being gone.
Mixed travel emotions for sure... But here I go!!!
