Escalation

Today started out rather chill. I got up, got ready for work, took care of the pets, and headed off to catch the bus. Normal Monday. Josh was riding today, so when the bus dropped us off in front of Crown Center, we chose the longer inside route because it was so cold. No big deal. Until...
We got all the way from one end of the mall to the other, only to discover that the UP escalator was closed. Only DOWN was working. And we needed to go UP! We could walk alllll the way back to the other end of the mall, or... well, let's just say it only took a glance and a smirk between us and we launched ourselves UP the DOWN escalator. I was in front. And let me say, those things really move faster than what you'd expect, when you're going against gravity. We both had heavy backpacks with laptops in them, and coffee.
We sprinted up, laughing all the way, and all was looking UP until, with only two steps to go, I fell DOWN. Fortunately I had the foresight to both: a) fall forward onto the landing, and thus off the escalator, and 2) keep the coffee safely balanced. Because possible contusions on my shins are acceptable, but spilled coffee isn't. I'm just glad that: 1) I made it off the escalator and didn't ride it all the way back DOWN on my knees, and b) Josh was able to jump past my pathetic hide and get UP as well. Phew!
hahahahahahahahahaha!!!
