RA and JR in DC

Whirlwind day in DC! Renée didn't have to be at her conference until this evening, so we jumped on the metro and jumped off at the Smithsonian. Our first stop was a visit to the iconic Smithsonian museum of natural history.
Just outside the museum: food truck lineup!! I got Indian and Mediterranean, she got Thai. YUM! By then the museum had an entry line of about 200 people. Our timing was good. It was still a zoo inside, being a Summer Saturday, but very enjoyable.
And then, we walked down the national mall to see all the other museums and landmarks: the Washington Monument, the White House, World War II monument, the Lincoln Memorial and reflecting pool, and finally, the beautiful and austere Arlington national cemetery and the tomb of the unknown soldier. If you have walked DC before, you know that it is quite a hike!!!
SO MUCH FUN to spend the day with Renée and to revisit all these amazing places!
