Let there be donuts.

I went to the gym as usual this morning for my class and had 2 weird things happen:
1) Dunkin Donuts (in the gym's parking lot) is now open, & there were two POLICEMEN directing traffic due to the huge line of cars waiting to get in. And blocking the parking to the gym. Nice.
and 2) My usual 1-hour step aerobics class was changed to 1.5 hours of boot camp today. Good thing I did so much walking in NYC to prepare!!! It was fun + exhausting: 3-4 minutes of strength alternated with 3-4 minutes of cardio for 90 minutes.
After class I talked to Crystal, who congratulated me on the Trolley Run. She was next to me for half the race, and finished just 15 seconds behind me. Ann came over & called me "Lil' Powerhouse." Totally made my day! (Especially coming from Ann, who is a powerhouse herself!) Maybe I should go have a donut.
After cleaning up, I met Joe & Janet downtown and had lunch at La Bodega. They were in town for last night's James Taylor / Carole King concert. It was great to see them & catch up!
...and now I must go work on my JAS presentation for Tuesday night, before my guests start to arrive for the cookout in two hours!

Dunkin'... D'oh!

Guess this means the new Dunkin Donuts AT MY GYM
is almost open. I like mine sprinkled with irony.

Dunkin' Dawbarns

Tell me these are not the cutest kids you've ever seen: Hazel and Jasper all ready for the Blackbob Pet Hospital pet parade! They are Dunkin Donuts' employees and their dog, Donut, is... a doughnut! Michele made the costumes by hand. Here's the amazing part: they didn't win the costume contest. Is there justice in this world? Apparently not.

P.S. Rahrrrr!!!

Cruel joke.

I think I mentioned in an earlier post that a long-abandoned building in front of my gym was recently leveled, and I was hoping the space would become much-needed parking. No such luck. Welcome to the future home of Dunkin Donuts. Literally in the parking lot of my gym. Can't wait to sink my teeth into a sugary ball of fried dough and sip a piping-hot coffee after a sweaty hour in boot camp class.

Whose idea was this???

The abandoned building directly in front of my gym was just torn down. Excited that they might be expanding the parking lot (because parking is a HUGE issue if you hit the gym between 5:30-7 pm), I asked at the front desk. And had a good laugh at the answer. They are building a DUNKIN' DONUTS. 'Cause nothing sounds better after a strenuous workout than a piping hot hunk of fried dough. Ugh.
