Halloweeeeen

It's Halloween weekend! Getting ready to leave to stock up on candy for tomorrow night, but TONIGHT I am joining Allyson, Scott & Andrew to visit The Edge of Hell, one of KC's famous 12th Street haunted houses. Frankly, I can't believe I've never been before, 'cause I love that sort of thing, and I can't wait to see what the 5-story warehouse has in store!
Kelley sent this photo of her & Eric winning their friends' pumpkin-carving contest for the third year in a row, and I think it's pretty clear why... these are amazing!
Kristin & Jeff made some nice ones, too!
Unfortunately I missed this year's Halloween party at work, which is usually quite elaborate, given that the participants are mostly artists. The prizes are worth the effort, too: iPods and gift certificates! They've gotten better since I last participated about 8 years ago, when Peter & Bill (my managers) made a giant hoops paper mache head & forced me to wear it. Oh yes, I said "forced." It was so heavy that I'm lucky that I didn't permanently crush any vertebrae! Looking for photos... stay tuned!
The haunted house was FUN, but I am sure glad we had Scott to lead the way. Most of the 1/4 mile route through the warehouse was pitch black, and you had to feel your way through it. We were clinging to each other the whole way to make sure we didn't get separated. There were many different creepy scenes & animatronic freaks, and it was suspenseful to know that something was likely to jump out & scare you at any time, but not to know where or when. I won't give any spoilers, I'll just say that one of the funniest parts was when one of the actors screamed, "I'M RICK JAMES!"  The scariest part was the machine on the street corner when we left:

Shameless pimping of my product...

I started a new job as Creative Director on Hallmark's digital team about five months ago. (And it's kind of ridiculous how fast it has flown by!!!) One of my favorite products that we create are the personalized cards for Hallmark.com. Our fun designs make it SO EASY to create the perfect card for someone, with or without adding your own photos. They're fun to make & even easier to send: we'll mail them to you if you want to hand-write your own message, or you can do everything online & we'll address, stamp & ship them for you. It is seriously so cool. Our team just created almost 200 new designs for the holidays that will debut at the end of the month, so be sure to check them out—it's never to early to start those Christmas cards! (And if I start now, I might actually have them done on time...)
I got online this afternoon to make a thanks card for my veterinarian, & a birthday card for Masayo:
We're even offering 25% off right now with promo code PARTY25 . Give it a try! I am a real believer in this format—every time I've sent personalized cards I've heard a great response from the recipients.
My group's other awesome products include Mobile greetings, ecards, and a Facebook application to help you track birthdays & special events. Be sure to let me know what you think!

random Hallmark moments: a visit from h&yy!

This afternoon's meeting was concluded by a very conspicuous visit from...
hoops & yoyo! And they're 9 feet tall when fully inflated! And some poor person is suffocating inside them!!!

random Hallmark moments: (w)hoopin' it up!

Steve & I wanted to do sumptin' nice for the hoops&yoyo team, given the crushing workload they've undertaken recently, & the awesome results they consistently deliver. And I got to design the cake!
Here's the good-lookin' team now (most of 'em, anyway).
Thanks guys & great job!!!
