Standees

There have been several birthdays and anniversaries at work recently—good chances for a little drawing! I've enjoyed making these little "standees" this year (stand-up cards) for people's desks.
This next one was in response to a blog post my boss shared, written by Seth Godin. A brief, bizarre piece that postulates that in order to be great, you shouldn't compare yourself to the competition, "but to an unattainable, magical unicorn". I'm not sure I'm buyin' what Seth is sellin', but it was a good excuse to do a fun drawing to adorn my boss's desk.

My new favorite word

Steve coined this word; as you might expect, it means "lascivious behavior by or with a unicorn." Had to censor the drawing!

Unicorns for the guys

I had to cleanse my palate of that cute-and-super-girly pink logo with some @**-kicking unicorns! (And, as usual, a couple of cute ones sneaked onto the page too. But look how ferocious the other two are! GRRRRRRR!!!!!!) When I was in elementary school, drawing was a highly regarded skill, and kids in my class often asked me to draw for them. The boys always requested fierce tigers or dragons or bulldogs—stuff like that. And I tried my hardest to impress them by drawing scary things...but they always turned out cute. I can't turn it off!
I used to think it was a curse, but I'm down with it now.

Rainbow Unicorn Blueberry Tigers

フレッドのめいごの「レインボーユニコーンブルーベリータイガーズ」というサッカのチームがいい名前だから、私はこの絵を書きました。タイガもユニコーンも書くのが大好きです。Here's a logo I sketched up simply because the subject matter was irresistible. Fred's 5-year-old niece is playing soccer, and the little girls named their team together. And they landed on "Rainbow Unicorn Blueberry Tigers." Genius!
