Brewery & Shawnee Mission Park

This morning a bunch of us went down to Boulevard Brewery at 9 am for bartender training, in preparation for our 4-hour shift at Irish Fest next Saturday. After that, we hit Los Alamos market y cocina since we were in the neighborhood. The fresh tamales smelled great, but it was hard to not be distracted by all the scary pinatas!

We bought some delicious smoked-cheddar-laced bread from Fervere (fur-vair'-ay), next to Blue Bird Bistro. It's going to taste good tonight with a glass of wine! This is the first time I've ever been inside Fervere because they make limited quantities of about 6 different types of bread, and they close up shop as soon as it's gone!
After that, Kelly & I took the shibas over to Shawnee Mission Park for some fun. And it was fun...until we lost Taylor. We walked through the woods after him, then back on the main path, calling his name to no avail. About 30 minutes later we headed down towards the lake, and sure enough: he was swimming after a yellow lab, trying to steal the bumper it was fetching, with his fat little body underwater and his head just barely above it. He was having a blast, and clearly had no idea that we were searching for him. Guess this would be a good time for me to tell him that SHIBAS DON'T SWIM. Oh well.
Here are some nice wildflowers we saw along the way:
