Home on the Range

Large coyote that Rich and I spotted after our trail run at Shawnee Mission Park this morning. It's such a thrill to see wildlife (yes, even the raccoon in my backyard that woke me up yesterday morning). I'm sure I'd never become immune to it, even if I lived somewhere that animals are more commonplace, like Colorado or Alaska. (Wildlife is scarce enough here that on the news, there was a big story about a bobcat mom & three babies caught on camera, walking across a golf course. Big news!)
While the sighting made my day, it was a great morning overall, having a buddy with whom to run (it was Rich's idea, actually—a nice nudge to get me going); a cool-ish (for July) temperature; a beautiful trail system; aaaand... an awesomely huge and delicious brunch at Eggtc. afterward. Which I think canceled out 4 miles of running, but who cares?

  2. Lucky you, Janet! I often see deer and turkey at this park, and was disappointed that I didn't on this morning. Little did I know I was in for an even bigger treat. :)
